No not always, in a small number of properties it is not possbile to fit a meter at all. The most common reasons we are not able to fit a meter are:

• you have more than one incoming water supply
• you share your water supply with other properties
• your internal pipework is inaccessible, obstructed, in poor condition or does not comply with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) regulations 1999
• we are unable to find a suitable place to fit the meter in either: the footpath or public highway outside your property, internally within your home
• you have access to communal facilities such as a laundry room.

If we are unable to fit a meter at your property we will normally discuss this with you when we carry out the survey, or within 10 working days of the survey taking place. We will also be able to offer you further advice on the options available.
