How do I know if my payment has been received and credited to my bill?

If you paid via our website and received confirmation on screen that the payment has been authorised this does not mean your account has immediately been paid. But it does mean that your bank is processing the payment. It will take us a short time to deal with your bank to collect your payment, put it into our bank account and acknowledge the payment against your billing record. All this should be complete within 4 working days of the confirmation. After that time you should be able to see the amount debited from your bank account or credit card and your billing records will be credited with the payment.

Payments made via other methods e.g. payment by cheque at a Post Office may take a different length of time to reach your account. You will be charged a fee by the Post Office

To check your latest payment has been received by United Utilities, you can use our 24 hour automated balance enquiry service, you will need your account number and will need to answer a question about how you normally pay your bill. The automated line is available 24 hours on 0845 402 1366. Each bill details all the payments your have made since your previous bill.
